An andhra style raw tamarind stew preparation which has a sweet and tangy flavour

Ingredients
tamarind paste or small lemon sized tamarind
2   teaspoon
red chili
2  
green chili minced
3  
urad dal
1   teaspoon
chana dal
1   teaspoon
mustard seeds
1/2   teaspoon
cumin seeds
1/2   teaspoon
curry leaves spring
1  
diced onion
1   cup
sugar/jaggery
1/2   teaspoon
salt as per taste
 
methi powder
1/4   teaspoon
Instructions

1. Mix the tamarind paste in water and add the salt and diced onion to it. If using fresh tamarind boil it in about 2 cups of water and squeeze all the juice out into a bowl and mix onion into it.

2. Heat oil in a pan and add the chana dal and urad dal and roast until light brown, add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds and red chili and green chili and curry leaves and let splutter. Add methi powder, sugar and turn off the stove. Transfer the tempering to the tamarind juice and serve with Rice.
