Goan Chicken Curry

A Sunday classic , pulao and chicken curry. This is a Goan style chicken curry made with Indian spices.

Ingredients
chicken
1   pound
kashmiri chilli powder or ( 6-8 chillies)
2   teaspoon
haldi or turmeric powder
1   teaspoon
coriander powder or dhania powder
1/2   teaspoon
jeera powder or cumin powder
1   pinch
small onion ( chopped)
1  
small tomato
1  
salt to taste
 
water
2   cup
potatoes (chopped)

Instructions

1. Clean and cut the chicken into small pieces and set aside

2. In a pan, add oil and saute the chopped onion till it is translucent. Add tomato and saute till it turns orange. Add the spices and saute for about a minute.

3. Remove the sauteed ingredients from the pan and put them in a blender and blend till a uniform paste is formed. (This helps make a thicker gravy)

4. In a pot, Add the blended ingredients, chicken,potatoes, salt and two cups of water. Let it cook for around 20 minutes and stir occasionally.
